Toyota Suspends Sales of Lexus GX460

Another nightmare for Toyota?

The recent safety warning which appeared in the Consumer Reports magazine, is the latest blow to Toyota. The report states that the Lexus GX460 which costs around $50,000, has an unusually high risk of rollovers during terns. According to the magazine, when pushed to the limits on a test track, the rear of the vehicle slid out until it was almost sideways before the electronic stability control was able to take over.

Toyota immediately suspended the sales of the model which has been in the market for only several months, and issued a statement with regards to the manufacturer’s efforts to identify and correct the defect.

In the mean time, consumers who have already purchased or lease the vehicle are reporting that they are not being offered any solid answers. Reports indicate that some Lexus dealers are warning consumers to avoid driving the vehicle. Some dealers are even going to the extent of offering loaners for an indefinite period of time.

Consumers should meticulously keep records of any out-of-service time they have incurred due to this latest development.
